Gate was locked at about 6:00 PM today. I got to Starhill and
setup my new mount and OTA before dark. Took less time than I
expected. I still have not installed the Telrad on the OTA, but
it was easy to find the half Moon. Captured some reasonable
images considering the wind. Next I tried imaging with the C14
and the LPI for the Lunar3D project. It was not possible to use a
2X Barlow (which was suggested in the methodology) with the LPI which
has the same FOV as a 4mm EP. I was able to image without the
Barlow, but the seeing was not really that good at the super high
power. I also tried my 5x Powermate in the C15 using a 25mm
EP. Very nice views. That Powermate seems to work better
than a Barlow.
Checked my Atlas outside. Considering polar alignment was done
before dark by noting how the C14 was aligned and walking outside to
guestimate the alignment of the Atlas I was suprised to find the Moon
was still in the FOV, but sorta at the edge. Did a little more
imaging with the Powermate in the EQ8. Then I went back to the
C14, but conditions were going downhill. Dew was getting very
heavy and there were patches of fog on the ground. When I went
back outside my OTA was completely dewed over. so I packed it up for
the nite at about 9:30 PM.
I am gonna post a moon image.
