In the early morning of April 22nd the Moon and Venus were in conjunction. They formed a beautiful pair here in Tallahassee (see photo from TAS President Ken Kopczynski).

Griffin Middle Schooler Nick Torgesen won First Place in TAS' Joe Haley "Young Achiever Award" for the Leon County Science Fair. Nick was awarded by TAS a 6 inch Dobsonian telescope and a field guide to the night sky. Great job Nick!

Bing Bing Liu, a Leon County middle schooler, earned second place for astronomy in the Leon County Science Fair. Bing Bing won a 4.5" StarBlast telescope, the "Joe Haley Young Achiever's Award," and a one-year TAS membership. Great work Bing Bing.

TAS participated in the International Year of Astronomy's "100 Hours of Astronomy" April 3rd through the 4th. It was standing room only at Kleman Plaza Saturday during the Origins/Science Festival, March 21st. TAS was in force with two free planetarium shows in the Downtown Digital Dome and we had a Hydrogen-Alpha scope set up for viewing the Sun on the Plaza. A great time was had by
