THE Tallahassee Astronomical Society (TAS), located in Tallahassee (capitol of the state of Florida) in the USA, is a group of friendly people who have a common interest in astronomy and wish to share that interest with the general public. You are invited to our meetings and events. No equipment is needed. Call a TAS officer for more information. (All monthly meetings are free!)

4/22/2009      Moon/Venus conjunction

4/20/2009      Nick Torgesen: TAS First Place Science Fair Winner

Griffin Middle Schooler Nick Torgesen won First Place in TAS' Joe Haley "Young Achiever Award" for the Leon County Science Fair. Nick was awarded by TAS a 6 inch Dobsonian telescope and a field guide to the night sky. Great job Nick! read more »

4/6/2009      Middle schooler wins TAS' second place award

Bing Bing Liu, a Leon County middle schooler, earned second place for astronomy in the Leon County Science Fair. Bing Bing won a 4.5" StarBlast telescope, the "Joe Haley Young Achiever's Award," and a one-year TAS membership. Great work Bing Bing. read more »

4/3/2009      100 Hours of Astronomy

TAS participated in the International Year of Astronomy's "100 Hours of Astronomy" April 3rd through the 4th. 3/21/2009      Origins/Science Festival on Kleman Plaza
