THE Tallahassee Astronomical Society (TAS), located in Tallahassee (capitol of the state of Florida) in the USA, is a group of friendly people who have a common interest in astronomy and wish to share that interest with the general public. You are invited to our meetings and events. No equipment is needed. Call a TAS officer for more information. (All monthly meetings are free!)

11/17/2009      TAS & Leon Co Library premiere space telescopes' imagess

On November 17th TAS and the Leon County Library premiered combined images of the Chandra, Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes at the downtown library. Along with the unveiling ceremony there were activities for children and adults. A wonderful time was had by all. read more »

7/20/2009      Apollo 11 40th Anniversary Show Big Hit

On Monday, July 20th, TAS in conjunction with the Challenger Learning Center, put on a 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. It was standing room only in the Downtown Digital Dome Theatre. We started off with a demonstration on the distance between the Earth and the Moon. TAS read more »
